Jacoby Brissett Finally Reports to the Arizona Cardinals' Mandatory Training Camp: Why This Changes Nothing

Jacoby Brissett has finally reported to the Arizona Cardinals' mandatory minicamp. If you’re waiting for a "reconciliation" headline, don’t hold your breath. Brissett isn’t here because he’s committed to the team’s vision; he’s here because he’s terrified of the $107,911 fine.

Let’s be clear: his attendance is an accounting move, not a leadership play. If it weren't for the threat of missing out on his game checks, he would still be nowhere near the facility.

Before we dive into the article, I have a massive update for those looking to dominate their leagues. My 2026 Rookie Guide is dropping soon. This comprehensive manual will feature over 60 rookies and cover the optimal strategy for positions 1-12 in your drafts.

The Numbers Don't Lie

Statistically, Brissett’s performance last season which he threw for 3,366 yards and 23 touchdowns. Those numbers might look passable on a stat sheet, but looking at box scores misses the forest for the trees. The bottom line is that the Cardinals went 1-11 with him under center. You don’t pay elite "QB1" money for a record that keeps you anchored to the bottom of the league.

There is an arrogant assumption floating around that because he’s the "veteran," he’s automatically the starter. But the Arizona Cardinals front office never officially guaranteed that job, and after a 1-11 campaign, they shouldn't.

A Lack of Leadership

Leadership is earned in the locker room, not demanded at the negotiating table. Brissett’s attitude speaks volumes, and it’s not the language of a leader ready to fight for his squad.

His behavior screams: "I know Carson Beck is better than me. I know I’m going to flop once the real pressure hits, so I better squeeze every cent of guaranteed money out of this front office while I still have the chance."

Cut the Dead Weight

The "Bridge Quarterback" is a common trope, but a bridge only works if it doesn't collapse. By holding out, Brissett has signaled that his personal payday ranks higher than the Arizona Cardinals' success.

If I’m running the War Room, my patience is gone. You don't negotiate with a player who has one foot out the door. My move? Shop him for any possible trade assets, and if there are no takers, cut him.

Stop wasting reps on a guy who’s just looking for an exit strategy. Hand the keys to Carson Beck. Beck has already been getting snaps he needs which only strengths the chemistry with Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jeremiyah Love, proving he’s the future. The Cardinals aren't winning with a disgruntled, overpaid veteran, so stop pretending they are.
